Intersection was presented with the challenge to differentiate the Muncie Sanitary District (MSD) logo from the similarly designed City of Muncie seal. The new logo needed to reflect the MSD’s values and convey to its customers the nature of its work. The fresh identity system was developed with the land and water in mind, showcasing the eco-friendly relationship between the community’s vital natural resources and the MSD. 

The new branding has been implemented in a redesigned website, secure employee-only portal, long standing print and digital educational resources, long and short-form video, fleet wraps, the refacing of Mr. Blue—Muncie’s iconic recycling mascot—and the introduction of Little Blue, a younger companion mascot. 

In 2014, the Muncie Sanitary District implemented green initiatives by bringing Greenline, the first compressed natural gas station in East Central Indiana, to Muncie. Greenline is cobranded with the MSD on a majority of brand touchpoints, but has the ability to stand alone on unique fronts, such as signage and storefront.
