Summary

The Account Director at Intersection serves as the strategic owner of key client relationships, working alongside the Managing Director and partnering closely with Intersection's project managers to ensure every account grows, retains, and thrives. You are the client's trusted advisor and the internal advocate for their long-term success. Clients turn to you for strategic counsel, not just status updates.

Your focus will be strengthening client relationships, uncovering growth opportunities within existing accounts, and ensuring clients experience the full value of Intersection's strategy, creative, and storytelling. You will consult on marketing strategy with your clients, and you will align with project managers on schedule, scope, and budgets.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides operational supervision to project managers and is the first point of contact for escalation for internal troubleshooting.

  2. Provides constructive feedback to project managers on accuracy, quality of work, and client service when necessary.

  3. Owns the client relationship end-to-end, serving as each client's primary strategic point of contact and trusted advisor.

  4. Translates client goals into strategic direction, ensuring delivery stays aligned with the client's broader business objectives.

  5. Leads Quarterly Business Reviews, renewal conversations, and account planning sessions that surface new opportunities and reinforce the value of Intersection's work.

  6. Leads routine client business reviews and value presentations with key stakeholders.

  7. Identifies and tracks opportunities to expand retainer scope, cross-sell services, and grow revenue within the existing client portfolio.

  8. Syncs regularly with Project Managers on account health, flagging risk early and coordinating a unified voice before client conversations.

  9. Acts as point of contact and escalation point to resolve client questions and issues.

  10. Collaborates with sales to ensure incoming clients have a clear understanding of their engagement and a smooth transition into active accounts.

  11. Captures and tracks all client contact and exchanges within corporate CRM tool.

  12. Stays informed about marketing and branding industry developments and translates them into opportunities for your clients.

  13. Provides your thought leadership and builds your brand by contributing to Intersection's marketing activities.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proven track record working with autonomy and retaining and growing client accounts over multi-year engagements.

  • Strong commercial instinct — comfortable identifying and pursuing upsell and cross-sell opportunities.

  • Strategic thinker who is comfortable advising senior client executives.

  • Exceptional relationship-building and client communication skills.

  • Strong work ethic with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.

  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear manner.

  • Collaborative operating style; working with client and creative services fluidly.

  • Willingness and ability to spend up to 20% of your time traveling for client meetings and marketing events.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; major or significant coursework in marketing, business, communications, or other relevant field.

  • At least five years of related work experience in the agency, brand, or media industry highly preferred.

  • Proven experience with marketing strategy, media buyers, vendors, production, and project management is required.

  • Demonstrated experience managing and growing client relationships, ideally in an agency or professional services environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
